(Note: Includes a modified Magneto Sporter bayonet but not the display unit - source this from Magneto)
The TUBB® Generation 2 Magneto Speed Mount allows the Magneto Speed bayonet to be used without being mounted to your barrel. This allows load testing and velocity measurement without inducing other variables onto your barrel's natural harmonics. The Magneto Speed Mount comes with two stainless steel mounting rods (20” & 6 ½” long), 2 adjustable and positional picatinny rail mounting blocks, a picatinny mounting shelf for your read-out screen, and a twin rod clamping block. The twin rod clamping block allows your Magneto Speed bayonet precise adjustability when setting the bayonet’s relative distance to the bore of your barrel. It is recommended that you start your initial testing with the bayonet offset 2 -2 ½ times your bore diameter. Adjust the magneto speed sensitivity on the display screen to determine what works best as you move the bayonet away further from the bore. I use sensitivity settings of 7 or 8 and position the Magneto bayonet 5/8”-3/4” offset to the center line of the bore when shooting my 6XC (.243” x 2.5=.6” offset). Bullet composition and diameter will influence the setting of your bayonets’ offset. This larger amount of offset will eliminate the zero shifting encountered when mounting the bayonet ¼” away from the bore.
Once your TUBB® Magneto Speed Mount is properly positioned for your rifle, it takes little time to remove or reattach and is 100% repeatable.
What I like about this mount is that I can use my Magneto Speed bayonet and chronograph while shooting ELR (Extreme Long Range) competitions because everything is mounted to the gun which allows the user to easily shift to a new target. This magneto mount works with current V3 and Sporter Magneto bayonets. Watch the accompanying video for further explanation and demonstration.
